It grows to a large size, deep red, thick, approaching to round shape, fine grained, pleasant flavored and productive. It ripens in September and is one of the best to keep.

Scallions are a popular garden vegetable used either raw or cooked. Scallions are popular as a flavoring in salads, sandwiches, soups, and stews. Scallions may be pulled when stem and bulb are 1/2 inch in diameter or allowed to grow longer to form larger onions.
SOWING ... For early crop start Scallion seed indoors 5 to 7 weeks before last frost date. For later crop plant directly outdoors as soon as the ground can be worked. Hamburg or Turnip Rooted PARSLEY Seed

ROOTS EXTENSIVELY USED FOR FLAVORING SOUPS AND STEWS: While the top growth of parsley is used for flavoring and garnishing, this parsley variety forms a fleshy parsnip-like root 5 to 6 inches long which is highly valued for the rich delicious flavor it imparts to soups, stews, gravies, etc. Parsley also makes an attractive border and lends itself well to container growth. THE ROOTS MAY BE LEFT IN THE GROUND ALL WINTER AND ARE NOT AFFECTED BY FREEZING. Ideal for the home gardener, small rooftop gardens or apartment dweller.
SOWING ... Plant parsley seed in early spring as soon as the soil can be worked. Sow seed in rows 12-18 inches apart and cover seed with 1/4 inch of fine soil. Keep soil moist until plants start to grow.

Hollow Crown PARSNIP Seed

CORELESS ROOTS OF EXCELLENT FLAVOR: Hollow Crown Parsnip is the best and most productive variety and is largely grown both for home vegetable garden and market. The parsnip roots are creamy white and grow 10 to 12 inches long. A great roasted dinner vegetable.

California Blackeye COWPEAS Seed

SOUTHERN FAVORITE: Blackeye Cowpeas are a favorite in the south and growing in popularity in other areas. Plants are vigorous and high yielding. Blackeye Cowpeas are excellent to use fresh or dried for winter use. Try some Cowpeas in your vegetable garden this growing season.
SOWING ... Plant blackeye cowpeas seed outdoors in a sunny location after all danger of frost is past. Place seed 2 inches apart in rows 3 feet apart. Cover Cowpeas seed with about 1 inch of soil. Firm soil over the Cowpeas seed by pressing with back of hoe.
THINNING ... Thin blackeye cowpeas to 3 inches apart and keep free of weeds by frequent hoeing or cultivation, especially when plants are small. Do not hoe when plants are wet.
