1. Loosen the soil - Using a garden rake, select a sunny location for your Instant Flower Garden and Seed in a Blanket rolls, and rid your soil of large clumps and rocks.
2. Unroll - Moisten prepared soil then unroll the Instant Flower Garden or Seed in a Blanket mat directly on the wet soil with either side up. Leave 3-4 inches (8-10cm) of soil between the flower seed roll and edge. For wider planting areas, cut the flower roll down the middle. Flower Garden Note: Plant the Seed in a Blanket flower mat AFTER the last frost of Spring in your growing area and the soil warms up too.
3. Water - Water immediately. Water should thoroughly soak the roll and soil below. The Instant Flower Garden or Seed in a Blanket roll should hug the shape of the ground, so that you can no longer lift it up as one piece.

Fresh aromatic herbs add a wonderful and completely different dimension to food when compared to the dried, store-bought variety.  It is the perfect way to dress up your favorite dishes.  The "Fresh Kitchen" Herb Garden comes with four (4) 4" x 6" seeded mats for a two (2) season harvest of the four (4) most commonly used kitchen herbs.  The seeded herb mats are the perfect size for planting on a sunny patio tabletop or just outside the kitchen door. You'll quickly have your own wonderful "Fresh Kitchen" aromatic herbs that will be perfect for your cooking and meals or used in many home decoration ideas. Each one of the four (4) individual "Fresh Kitchen" herb garden 4" x 6" seed mats are gently pre-cut and can be separated (if required) into twelve (12) individual plantings of 1" x 2" rectangle seed mat sections for small flower pots or containers. HINT: Grow some small flower pots of herbs as special gifts. There are a total of forty eight (48) pre-cut planting rectangles, so you can be creative and customize your herb garden.  As always, a little extra care will insure you have maximum results from your Instant Flower Garden® product. "Fresh Kitchen" Herb Garden Varieties: Basil (Ocimum basilicum), Parsley (Petroselinum crispum latifolium), Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum), and Oregano (Origanun vulgare). General Installation and Watering - Fill the container with potting soil to within 1/2" of the top.  Cut each seeded mat in half and set aside a section from each mat for a second season.  Place the seeded mat sections over the soil and water liberally being careful not to over saturate.  See Garden Basics  for detailed information about Soil Preparation for Containers, How to Store Unused Mats for Next Season, and other helpful gardening tips. Special Considerations - Determine the size and shape of your herb garden.  For a larger garden, space the mats 6 to 10 inches apart.  Any unused mats can be interplanted in another garden or used in a container. It is important, however, that you avoid overwatering and provide just enough water for the soil to feel moist to the touch but not soggy. Where to Plant - Full to partial sun (6+ hours of direct sunlight). What You Can Expect - The Instant Flower Garden "Fresh Kitchen" Herb Garden seed mats will germinate in 1 to 4 weeks depending upon conditions and soil temperature.  Patience is necessary in this phase.  Cool evenings and overcast days can delay germination.  In addition, soil in container gardens may warm a bit more slowly than in-ground conditions.  After the second set of leaves unfold, some thinning may be necessary to avoid crowding and allow for stronger mature plants.  Expect the "Fresh Kitchen" Herb Garden plants to grow to a height of 6 to 30 inches (15cm to 76cm) tall.  Once established, cut herbs frequently and enjoy them in a fresh summer salad or sprinkled with some olive oil on chicken. BONUS COOKING IDEAS - Fresh cilantro is wonderful on tacos.  For a tantalizing al fresco treat, toss well-drained hot pasta with olive oil, garlic, chopped tomatoes, and a generous handful of chopped basil, oregano, and parsley.  Shred some good parmesan cheese over the top.  Ooh, momma mia...!  To make unbeatable oven-fries, toss wedge-cut raw potatoes with oregano, salt, pepper, and a small amount of oil, place on a metal cookie sheet, and bake, turning several times, at 350 degrees for 45 to 60 minutes until crisp.  Yum, Yum...!
